About Chintpurni Temple

Chintpurni Temple is one of the most revered Shakti Peeths in India. It lies in Una district of Himachal Pradesh, on the Solah Singhi hill range near Bharwain village. The temple is dedicated to Mata Chintpurni, also known as Chinnamastika Devi.

According to belief, the goddess removes the worries of her devotees, which gives the temple its name. A local tradition says Sati’s feet fell here. Millions of pilgrims from Himachal, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi visit every year.

The temple is especially crowded during the Navratri fairs in Chaitra, Shravan and Ashwin. Many people walk for days to reach the shrine, and volunteers run langars along the route. If you want a quieter darshan, plan a weekday visit outside the fair season.

The area around the temple has a lively market for puja items, sweets and souvenirs. Guest houses and dharamshalas offer simple stays. Also, many pilgrims combine the visit with Jwalaji, Naina Devi and Kangra to complete a Shakti Peeth circuit.

October to March is the best season. Dress modestly, carry water in summer and follow temple rules. Also allow extra time for queues.

For a smoother trip, book your stay and transport in advance during peak season. Also respect local customs, and ask before you take photos of people. When you plan well, the journey feels easier and far more enjoyable. Also, carry a valid photo ID and some cash, because network and cards can be unreliable in the hills. Start early in the day, so you have enough time and softer light for photos. Wear comfortable shoes, and carry water and a light rain jacket, because mountain weather changes fast.
