About: Spiti Monastery Circuit
The Spiti Monastery Circuit takes you through some of the most important Buddhist monasteries in the Indian Himalayas. This 6-day, 5-night tour uses Kaza as its main base. It gives you enough time to explore Spiti’s spiritual heritage, traditional villages and dramatic mountain landscapes without rushing.
During the tour, you will visit Tabo Monastery, famous for its ancient paintings and sculptures. You will also explore Dhankar Monastery, which overlooks the Spiti and Pin river valleys. The journey continues to Kungri Gompa in peaceful Pin Valley and Key Monastery, the largest monastery in Spiti. You will also discover nearby villages and learn more about local Buddhist culture and daily life.
The tour package covers accommodation in hotels and homestays, meals and local transport within Spiti. We also arrange monastery entry fees, a local guide and the required permits. You will need to arrange your own transport to Spiti, travel insurance and personal expenses. Some monasteries may also charge separate camera fees.
We recommend this tour for travellers aged 14 and above because Spiti sits at a high altitude and involves long mountain journeys. We keep each group to a maximum of eight travellers. This smaller group size creates a more relaxed experience and gives you more time to enjoy the monasteries, villages and landscapes of Spiti Valley.
