About Paragliding
Paragliding in Bir Billing lets you fly above green hills, tea gardens and the Dhauladhar range. Bir Billing lies in the Kangra district, and it is widely known as one of the best paragliding places in India. Pilots take off from Billing, at a height of around 2,400 metres, and land near Bir village.
Most visitors try a tandem flight, where a trained pilot flies with you. You do not need any experience. A short briefing explains how to run at take-off and how to sit during the flight. Then the wind lifts you gently, and you can enjoy the view. The whole experience takes about 30 to 45 minutes, including transport.
The best seasons are usually March to June and September to November, when the sky is clear and winds are steady. Monsoon and heavy winter weather can stop flights. Therefore, keep one spare day in your plan, because operators cancel flights if conditions are unsafe.
Wear comfortable clothes and closed shoes with a good grip. Also carry sunglasses and a light jacket, since it is cooler at the top. Avoid a heavy meal before your flight. Age, weight and health limits vary by operator, so tell us about any back, heart or breathing problem in advance.
