About Deotsidh

Deotsidh is a well-known pilgrimage site in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. It stands on a forested hill in the Shivalik range, about 45 km from Hamirpur town. Because the shrine is dedicated to Baba Balak Nath, devotees from Himachal, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi visit every year.

The main temple is built around a natural cave. Devotees believe Baba Balak Nath meditated here. When they visit, they offer roat, a sweet flatbread, along with flowers and coconuts. Then they take home the blessed prasad. The atmosphere is simple and deeply devotional.

The Chaitra Mela, held between mid-March and mid-April, is the busiest time. Sundays draw the largest crowds, with stalls, community meals and continuous prayers. However, if you prefer a quiet darshan, visit on a weekday outside the fair season.

Beyond the temple, the hill gives pleasant views and forest paths for short walks. Small shops near the entrance sell puja items, sweets and snacks. Also, basic guest houses and dharamshalas are available, so you can stay a night if you wish.

October to March is comfortable for visiting. Wear comfortable footwear, carry water and respect temple customs. Also start early on fair days, because queues can be long.

You can combine Deotsidh with Sujanpur Tira and Nadaun for a fuller Hamirpur trip. The roads are easy, and taxis are available from Hamirpur. Then you can enjoy a full day of temples, history and quiet countryside.

Check the weather and road conditions before you leave, so your plan stays flexible. Keep the surroundings clean, and carry your waste back with you. For a smoother trip, book your stay and transport in advance during peak season.
