About Kheer Ganga

Kheer Ganga is a popular trekking spot in the Parvati Valley of Kullu district, at around 2,960 metres. It is famous for its natural hot spring, open meadows and deodar forests. Beginners and camping lovers enjoy this trek.

The trek starts at Barshaini village, about 12 km from Kasol. The trail passes Nakthan village, Rudranag waterfall and forests along the Parvati River. It takes around four to five hours one way. Tea stalls on the route help you rest.

At the top you find a small temple and a hot spring pool. The warm water feels wonderful after the climb. Many visitors also link the place with Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva. So it has spiritual value too.

Camping is the main stay option. Tents and simple huts spread across the meadow, and evenings bring bonfires and star-filled skies. Mornings offer clear views of snow-capped peaks. Local cafes serve tea, maggi and simple meals.

April to June and September to mid-November are the best months. Carry warm clothes, a torch and cash. Also carry your waste back, because the meadow is delicate. Winter brings heavy snow, so the trail may close.

Add a day for Kasol, Manikaran and Tosh if you have time. Some trekkers also extend the trip towards Mantalai Lake. Then the journey becomes a full Parvati Valley experience, with hot springs, forests and quiet villages.

Also, carry a valid photo ID and some cash, because network and cards can be unreliable in the hills. Start early in the day, so you have enough time and softer light for photos.
