Bir Billing Paragliding Tour

Bir, in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, is widely regarded as India’s paragliding capital, and this 3-day, 2-night tour is built entirely around giving you a proper taste of it — without needing any prior flying experience. Bir’s launch site at Billing sits at a height that consistently produces reliable thermals, which is why it hosts national and international paragliding events and draws pilots and first-time flyers alike through most of the year.

After arriving in Bir on Day 1 and settling into your guesthouse, Day 2 is dedicated to the tandem paragliding flight — the highlight of the trip. You’ll fly with a certified pilot from the Billing take-off point down to the landing ground near Bir, taking in wide views over the Kangra Valley, its tea gardens and the neighbouring Tibetan settlement along the way. Because it’s a tandem flight, no training or previous paragliding experience is required; you simply follow your pilot’s instructions before and during takeoff.

The same day also includes a visit to Bir’s Tibetan colony, home to a resident community of Tibetan refugees, several monasteries and a noticeably calmer pace than the paragliding site nearby, along with a walk through the area’s tea gardens — a good contrast to the adrenaline of the flight.

Guesthouse stay, the tandem paragliding flight, the Tibetan colony visit and the tea garden walk are all included in the price. Meals, GoPro footage of your flight and travel insurance are not included, so it’s worth budgeting separately for these, particularly if you’d like a recording of your flight as a keepsake. The tour is recommended for travellers aged 14 and above, with groups capped at 10 guests, making it a good short getaway for first-time flyers and adventure lovers.
